TAB Travels | Conception And Purpose

During his professional career, Nirmalya Bose extensively traveled and resided across various cities and towns in Eastern India. These experiences immersed him in the region’s rich natural and cultural diversity and allowed him to engage closely with local communities offering a wide range of tourism-related services. However, he noticed a significant gap such as while many locals had valuable offerings, they lacked the marketing tools and digital presence needed to reach a broader audience.

Recognizing this opportunity, Nirmalya left his job to launch a venture aimed at bridging this gap. For the first five years, he worked solo, developing digital platforms to connect service providers with travelers. His dedication laid the foundation for a growing ecosystem.

In 2016, he expanded the initiative by building a team of eight members to manage a call center and backend operations. This effort successfully onboarded over 2,000 service providers from across Eastern India.

Like many in the tourism sector, his venture faced major setbacks during the 2020 pandemic, forcing a scale-down of operations. However, with conditions improving post-2023, the business is steadily getting back on track, regaining momentum and reconnecting people with authentic local travel experiences.

Sundarban Climate Warriors. (Communitity Based Help Group For Disaster Relief)

The Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest spanning southern West Bengal, is highly prone to natural calamities. Situated in the coastal delta region, it is frequently battered by cyclones, floods, tidal surges, and soil erosion. The region has witnessed devastating cyclones like Aila (2009), Amphan (2020), and Yaas (2021), which caused immense destruction to lives, homes, crops, and biodiversity. With climate change accelerating, sea-level rise and increased salinity have worsened the vulnerability of the land and its people.

The fragile embankments protecting the inhabited islands often break during storms, submerging villages in saline water and making the soil unfit for farming. Many residents are forced to migrate due to the loss of livelihood and rising risks. Fishing and agriculture—the primary occupations—suffer greatly during and after disasters, increasing poverty and displacement.

Despite the resilience of the local population, limited infrastructure and slow disaster response mechanisms make recovery challenging. The frequent natural calamities also threaten the unique ecosystem of the Sundarbans, home to the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger. As threats grow, urgent efforts in sustainable development, early warning systems, and climate adaptation are critical for the survival of both the people and the forest.

How We Contribute

​​Sundarban Climate Warriors, a community-based disaster relief group, plays a vital role in protecting vulnerable communities from frequent natural calamities. By being locally rooted, we can respond quickly during emergencies with essential support like first aid, food, and clean water. 

The group can also help rebuild after calamities by repairing embankments, restoring homes, and supporting farmers and fishers with seeds, tools, and financial aid. Promoting mangrove plantation drives and eco-friendly livelihood options like honey collection or crab farming can reduce dependence on high-risk occupations.

Sundarban Climate Warriors serve as guardians of both community and nature—empowering locals to face challenges together and build a safer, more resilient future in the face of climate change.

Nirmalya Bose 

Founder of TAB Travels, which is based in Kolkata and specializes in organizing tours to Eastern Indian States of Orrisa, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal and neighouring country of Bhutan.

Recognized as a Tour Operator for over 14 years, offering day trips as well as multi-day itineraries, guided adventure trips, special interest tours, cultural experience tours, wildlife photograhy tours,high atlitude trekking, etc. within the above said geograhpic locations.

Nirmalya Bose is also described as engaging in community-based tourism initiatives, supporting rural operators from boat owners, homestays in remote locations, village community based cultural groups, small single unit infrastucture owners like logistics providers, etc. Though not restricted to the same, we also provide luxury experiences like cruise and accomodation services in 4-5 star category.

Education And Work Experience

Born in Kolkata 1972, capital city of West Bengal, India, Nirmalya Bose finished his primary education from Loyola High School (Formerly known as St. Pauls Seconday School), Kolkata, with multi ethenic students was exposed to diverse thoughts and cultural background. Later joined University of Kolkata and finished Bachelors of Science. 

After fininshing college attended MBA program but dropped out to join Coca Cola Company as Management trainee, afterwards at a susidiary of Boilogical Evans, a pharmaceutical company for a short stint, after which joined Britannia Industries Ltd. Dairy Division and worked there for 4 years with roles of sales, marketing and market expantion.

Later joined Moniginis, a bakery and confectionery player then expanding in eastern India. In 2005 changed to Sify Technologies Ltd. retail division, operating a chain of cyber cafes across India. Worked at multiple role in sales, marketing, product launches, city expantions, etc. 

During his entire working carrer Nirmalya Bose had worked mostly in roles that involved in ventures of market expantions be it new products, new georaphical locations, etc.
