Shantiniketan, located in Birbhum district of West Bengal, is a culturally rich town known for its association with Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Founded by Tagore’s father, Maharshi Debendranath Tagore, it later became the home of Visva-Bharati University, established by Rabindranath in 1921. Shantiniketan is a hub of art, music, and literature, and hosts vibrant festivals like Poush Mela and Basanta Utsav, celebrating Bengali culture with folk music, dance, and handicrafts. Known for its peaceful environment and red-earth landscapes, Shantiniketan attracts students, artists, and travelers alike. The atmosphere of creativity and its deep-rooted connection to Tagore’s legacy make it a unique destination that blends education, heritage, and tranquility.
In 2023, Shantiniketan's recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site added a new dimension to the festivities. To commemorate this honor, Bolpur also hosts its inaugural Durga Puja Carnival, featuring vibrant processions and cultural performances that celebrated both the festival and the town's global recognition. This Gram Banglar or Rural Village Durga Puja Parikrama offers an unique experience to witness how the festive celebrations are away from the crowded and loud ambience of Kolkata city.
The artistic spirit of Shantiniketan is further evident in the revival of traditional art forms like Sohrai paintings and Santiniketani alpana, which adorn the puja pandals, adding a unique aesthetic that resonates with the town's artistic legacy.

Stunning settings with moss-covered mansions, traditional clay idols, and candid village scenes. Perfect if you seek a spiritual and serene Puja experience without city crowds.
