Kolkata, the cultural capital of India, is a vibrant blend of colonial charm, artistic heritage, and modern urban life. Known as the “City of Joy,” it welcomes travellers with its warmth, intellectual spirit, and historical richness. The city’s streets are lined with Victorian-era buildings, bustling markets, iconic yellow taxis, and the ever-present aroma of street food like phuchka, jhalmuri, and kathi rolls.
A tour of Kolkata typically begins with the majestic Victoria Memorial, a grand marble structure surrounded by lush gardens. The Howrah Bridge, one of the world’s busiest cantilever bridges, stands as a symbol of Kolkata’s resilience and engineering brilliance. Cultural enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the world of art and literature at Rabindra Sadan, Nandan, and Academy of Fine Arts, while history lovers can explore the Indian Museum, India’s oldest and largest museum.
Kolkata is also deeply spiritual, with landmarks like Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Belur Math, Kalighat Temple, and St. Paul’s Cathedral attracting visitors year-round. The city’s vibrant festivals—especially Durga Puja—turn the streets into an open gallery of art, music, and celebration.
From leisurely boat rides on the Hooghly River to shopping at New Market and College Street, Kolkata offers countless memorable experiences. Whether you’re seeking heritage, culture, food, or festivals, Kolkata promises an enriching journey filled with history, emotion, and unmatched charm.
